How do camera pose guides work?

Choose a pose and open it in the Unpose camera. The guide appears over the live view while you frame the subject. When the pose and scene line up, take the photo as usual.

Will the pose guide appear in my finished photo?

No. The guide helps you compose the shot in the camera interface and is not burned into the photo saved to your device library.

Can I create a pose guide from my own photo?

Yes. Choose a suitable image from your photo library and Unpose will remove its background to create a custom pose overlay. You can reposition, resize, flip, and adjust it in the camera.

Do I need photography experience?

No. Unpose is designed to reduce guesswork for everyday photographers. The visual guide helps with posing and framing, while optional camera tools such as the grid and level help refine the shot.

Is Unpose available for iPhone?

Yes, Unpose is available for iOS on the App Store. Use the store links on this page to download it.

Privacy Policy for Unpose

Unpose ("we", "our", or "us") provides a mobile photo-guidance and camera application designed to help photographers and subjects frame, compose, and capture better portraits and travel photos.

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, how it is protected, and the choices and rights you have regarding your personal data when using the Unpose mobile application (the "App") and our related services.

1. Information We Collect

We collect only the information necessary to provide, personalize, and improve our services.

A. Information You Provide Directly

Account & Authentication Information: When you sign up or log in using Sign in with Apple or Google Sign-In, we receive your name, email address, unique account identifier, and authentication provider. If you choose Apple's "Hide My Email" feature, we receive an anonymized relay email address.
Onboarding & Profile Preferences: During onboarding, you may choose to share your photo-taking goals, preferred subject audience (e.g., partner, friends, self), photography experience level, aesthetic and setting preferences, and optional demographic details (e.g., self-reported age range and gender).
Custom Pose Assets: If you choose to turn a photo from your library into a custom pose guide, the uploaded reference photo and its background cutout are stored securely in your private, authenticated cloud storage directory.

B. Information Collected Automatically

Usage & Analytics Data: We use Google Analytics for Firebase to collect aggregate, de-identified information about how the App is used, such as screens viewed, pose overlays activated, collections created, paywall views, and general interaction metrics.
Device & Technical Information: We collect device model, operating system version, app version, language preference, and approximate geographic region (country/city level).
Subscription & Purchase Data: When you subscribe to Unpose Pro, transactions are processed directly by the Apple App Store (via StoreKit) or Google Play. We use RevenueCat to validate purchase receipts and manage subscription entitlements. We never receive or store your credit card or financial account numbers.

C. Information We DO NOT Collect or Store on Servers

Your Captured Photos: Photos you capture using the Unpose camera are saved directly to your device's native photo library. We do not upload, scan, or store your captured photos on our servers.
Real-Time Sensor & Camera Stream Data: Camera frames and accelerometer/gyroscope readings used for real-time leveling and pose alignment are processed in temporary memory on your device and are never recorded or transmitted.
On-Device Background Removal: Image segmentation for creating custom pose overlays is executed locally on your device using native machine learning frameworks (Apple Vision).

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

Provide and Maintain the App: To authenticate your account and sync your saved poses, custom poses, and collections across your devices.
Personalize Your Experience: To recommend relevant pose categories, settings, and camera guides based on your selected goals and preferences.
Manage Subscriptions: To verify subscription status, unlock Unpose Pro features, and provide customer support.
Improve and Optimize: To understand feature engagement, diagnose performance issues, identify bugs, and improve camera usability.
Customer Support: To respond to your requests, feedback, or data inquiries.
Legal & Security Compliance: To protect the security of our services, prevent fraud, and comply with applicable laws.

3. Third-Party Service Providers

We share data only with trusted third-party service providers who assist us in operating the App under strict data protection and confidentiality agreements:

Google Cloud & Firebase (Google LLC):
- Firebase Authentication: User identity and login management.
- Cloud Firestore & Cloud Storage: Encrypted storage of user profile data, collections, and custom pose overlays.
- Firebase Analytics: De-identified usage and engagement metrics.
- Cloud Functions: Automated backend maintenance and data erasure.
RevenueCat, Inc.: Subscription management, receipt verification, and entitlement tracking.
Apple Inc. / Google LLC: In-app purchase processing, authentication (Apple ID / Google Account), and optional push notifications (APNs).

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.

4. Data Retention and Deletion

Account Retention: We retain your profile data, collections, and custom poses for as long as your account remains active.
Account Deletion (Right to Erasure): You may delete your account at any time directly within the App by going to Settings → Account → Delete Account.
Automated Cleanup: When you delete your account:
1. Your Apple/Google authentication tokens are revoked.
2. Your user profile and all associated data in our database (Firestore) are permanently deleted.
3. All custom pose images stored in cloud storage are permanently removed.
4. Your subscriber record in RevenueCat is erased/anonymized.

5. Your Privacy Rights (GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, and International Rights)

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal information:

Right to Access / Portability: You can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you by tapping Download My Data in the Settings screen or by emailing us at support@unpose.app.
Right to Rectification: You may update your profile preferences within the App.
Right to Erasure: You can permanently delete your account and all associated data via the in-app deletion flow.
Right to Withdraw Consent: You can disable push notifications or camera/photo library access at any time through your device's operating system settings.
Non-Discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of your privacy rights.

6. Security of Your Information

We implement industry-standard administrative, technical, and physical security measures to safeguard your information:

All data transmissions between the App and our backend services are encrypted using Transport Layer Security (TLS/HTTPS).
Cloud database and storage assets are secured with strict access-control rules restricting access exclusively to the authenticated account owner.

While we strive to protect your data, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Children's Privacy

Unpose is not intended for or directed to children under the age of 13 (or under 16 in the European Economic Area). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child, please contact us immediately at support@unpose.app and we will delete the data promptly.

8. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, features, or legal requirements. When updates are made, we will revise the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy. Continued use of the App following the posting of changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
